The Dragon is considered to be the most auspicious of the Chinese

animals, and Dragon years are said to be the best for having babies and for

making money, the latter point may seem a bit odd, given the current economic

climate in the world. Nonetheless, the Dragon, being the Imperial emblem, is

always seen as abundant, as inventive, and as regal. The Dragon is a very potent

sign and bestows auspicious powers. So, you may like to start a scheme with

your partners or friends, put on the thinking caps and put those financial plans

you have been mulling over in the past into action, for the Dragon year is the

year to do so. There may initially appear to be opposition to your plans, but

cracks will eventually appear, and finally the dam will break, flooding your life

with opportunity.

The Rain Dragon is perceptive and patient, highly intelligent , able to see eye to-

eye with others, and gains its best benefit through careful and patient work.

This is not a year to rush things, however. Rather, whatever plans have been laid

in the past are now set to come to fruit, and it should be a year of enjoyment of

some success, whatever your field of endeavor. Beware, though: this is not a year

for grandstanding or for making bold or outrageous statements. The Rain Dragon

retires from the spotlight and works quietly in the background, though the results

of its plans may seem outstanding when the work is done. So, don’t shy away

from that scheme you’ve had in the back of your mind, for there the Rain Dragon

has worked away quietly, waiting for his day to rain forth his benefits. This is

the year when you use what you put away for those rainy days – and there will

be plenty of them, as Rain Dragon years always bring more than their share

Rat:

This is the year to shine for Rats, for not only is the year in your

home element, which is water, but also the Rat month this year is ruled

by water. The only thing to fear this year is that you take on too much and

wind up treading water rather than being able to flow freely with your ideas. Keep a

notepad with you at all times, especially in the late hours, and use all this water energy

for serious interfacing with others. You will find people more than ready to hear what

you have to say and to discuss things with you. This is year of the ‘BIG IDEA’ for you.

If you plan carefully, be ready to dive for the pearls that you seed in your oysters in the

coming months. Seize the day!

Ox:

Come on, now, dear Ox. We know you have that stash safely tucked

away for the rainy day. What are you going to do with all that stored

resource? We know you have plans for it, and we know they are solid

plans. So, come on – ‘fess up! If you want to make money this year, no matter what

your sign, hitch your cart to an Ox. By the end of the year, and especially in their

month (December) they should be rolling in the money if they play their cards right.

The elements have conspired to give our careful and patient Ox exactly what they’ve

been waiting for: opportunity, the right time in the right place. Water is the money

element for Oxen and we have it this year in spades. Not only that, the Ox month this

year is ruled by water as well. So in terms of finances, if you want to see how it’s done,

just watch how the Ox does it – and do it they will!

Tiger:

Oh tenacious Tiger, lying in wait, the vigil shall not be long this

year. Though you may have felt frustrated in the past two years, the tide is

about to turn for you. But then, you’re good at waiting, silently churning

plans around, waiting for the perfect opportunity to pounce. Will it be in January?

Maybe March? Perhaps you wait to the end of the year. It doesn’t matter when, and

we know you already have it figured out anyway. You smell opportunity this year, and

you can feel it coming. In that, you would be right, for this year will feed your energies

and fire your enthusiasm, especially if you’re a Black Tiger (1962). Opportunities like

this don’t come every day – but then, you know that too. Who knows what plans you

have in store? We see you poised. We’ll just wait and see when and where you strike. It

should be fabulous! Money and creativity are yours for the taking this year. Enjoy your

Rabbit

Mystic Rabbit, what do you see in your crystal ball this

year? Like your brother, the Tiger, you have been waiting, too, off in the

dreamtime working your spells. This is not the year of big starts for you,

but plans can be put in place. There is time yet to brew those potions that

will hatch your plans – and you need this water for those potions, don’t you? Next year

will be your year, but that is not to say that this year will not yield good results. This

year for you is about careful planning, and not getting lost in other-worldly pursuits,

which you do so dearly love. Spend this year communing with like minds and spreading

your mental wings. Telepathy and subtle communication will be very strong for you

this year. Use it to good advantage. A bit of artistry would not go far astray, either. You

never know – that piece of art you do may very well reveal the future for you, or maybe

that little magical potion that you cooked up a couple of years ago might actually bring

the very person to you that will help you realize your dream. Whatever you do this year,

remain open and know that if not this year, then the next, you will realize that for which

you seek.

Dragon:

OK… You know you want it. You’ve been waiting for several

years now. What are you waiting for? Life has handed you up the very thing

you wanted for so long on a silver platter. So, what will you do with it?

What do you want? Money, children, success, notoriety, or maybe just a good year – all

these are yours and more if you want them, and with a little careful work (Ooh – there’s

that word again!) the things you wanted most may just fall in your lap this year. This is

your year after all! Here it is – your money element (water) and the element that brings

you control and focus (wood) are both here to help. Not many people can say they have

this much going for them this year. Whether you want to pioneer some great discovery,

go sailing around the world solo, form a secret society, or create some magnificent

architectural edifice, if you wanted to this year you could do it. Go on – you know you

want to! We are all in your corner. Yes, when all is said and done at the end of the year,

we can talk to others about you and say, “Yes, I knew them then!”

Snake:

Fancy taking up a new hobby, our sagacious Serpent? Perhaps a

new class or course of study is in order, or maybe you just feel like playing

things safe this year. Whatever you choose to do, you should find more

than enough help to focus yourself and arrive at your destination. This is not a year for

starting new projects in the world for you. Rather, this will be a time of inner work,

putting things in place for the next few years, and of learning new skills, for which

you have a great ability and finesse. In fact, if there’s something in your life that has

not quite worked, this will be the time to apply your considerable skills. All study and

inner work favors you this year. Anything that requires a disciplined approach is your

cup of tea as well. In fact, the Rain Dragon favors careful and patient work and, since

you find your natural pair in the Dragon, in some ways you should feel right at home

with this year, even though outer success may prove to be a little elusive. Don’t take it

personally. It’s just the universe cajoling you to employ all those great managerial skills

Horse:

Our headstrong Horse, it is no use chafing at the bit this year,

wishing things were different, wishing you go outside and roam free. The

rains have come, and like your elemental sibling the Snake, it may be better

for you to focus your energy elsewhere than out-of-doors and instead use that fine mind

of yours to make bold plans for the future, for in two years’ time no one will be able to

catch you if you plan things well now. You’re one of the best organizers there are, and it

may just be that a little reorganization of your own life, rather than everyone else’s life,

is exactly what you need right now. Like the Snake, take up a new hobby or discipline,

catch up on your reading, do something new with the kids, but for goodness sake keep

it about you and don’t think because you’re inside it means you have to get everyone

else organized. Of course, there is always the gym if you absolutely have to have that

exercise, but your time is better spent working on your mind this year and letting the

world and those around you run themselves for a while. They will love you for it, and

when you’re out running free when the energy is better you will be able to enjoy things

a lot more if you make the inner adjustments now. We know patience is not your strong

point, but a little self-discipline pays big dividends down the road.

Sheep:

No one would ever think it of you just by looking at you, but

when you get fired up people had better step out of the way. Are you ready

to be fired up? Well, ready or not, this year will do it for you. You may find

this year that sacrifices need to be made for love, but it doesn’t mean that you have to

be a doormat – and woe be to anyone who thinks you are this year! This is the time for

you where anything involving children, women’s issues, social justice, and the common

people will really have a way of getting your goat, as it were. This is not a year to

retreat and become monkish, to which you can be inclined. Instead, you need to be out

and involved, and it may turn out to be that way whether you want it that way or not.

Then again, you will still be in your element. Your native element, Earth, controls the

year element, and you can get a lot done in the world if you so desire. So, if there is

something you have wanted to do but had not had the passion to do so, look for that

to change in the coming months. You are no shrinking violet when your passions are

aroused, and there is no finer person to have on your side when the fire is blazing!

Monkey:

Are you ready for a mental challenge, our Monkey mastermind?

It is time to dust off all the old projects that have been gathering dust on the

shelves and in your closet, maybe in the attic or the cellar, maybe in all those

places – you have a thousand of them – and actually do something with at least one of

them. Yes, you are very clever and no one knows better than you, but dust and cobwebs

do not a dollar make, and an idea unrealized is a sad thing. It is time to finally connect

the wires, tighten screws, write the user’s manual and finally show the world your

true genius. This year is full of promise and every aid will be around you to help you

realize the fullness of your abilities. You must produce this year. The time for thinking

has passed. If you apply yourself, with a little patience there is little that you could not

accomplish in the coming months. This is not the year to be the mellow Monkey. Now

is time to be the Monkey in motion!

Rooster:

Are your feathers still a bit ruffled from last year, our Rooster?

Feeling a little bit out of sorts? Well, smooth out the plumage and put on

a good face. Few people scrub up better than you. Though the past two

years might have been difficult, this year and the next few will see you

better placed. You will feel things begin to turn around in the coming months. Like

the Monkey, your brother, it is time to dust off some of those projects or presentations

that you’ve been holding onto for a while now. The opportunities for presentation are

just around the corner, so if you plan carefully now you will be well-poised for when

the signs are more auspicious. So, take a deep breath, take stock of things, make sure

everything is in order, and breathe a sigh of relief. Take a vacation, get caught up on

your reading, be a presence in the social scene, and before you know it the time for

Dog:

You are Dog de Rigueur on everyone’s guest list this year. The

heavens open and the things you touch seem to turn to gold. With a little

bit of foresight, which you have in abundance, and your natural social

skills (oh, and did we mention loyalty?) You should be able to write your own ticket

this year. This year’s element is your natural money element and especially in the

Dog month (October) your entrepreneurial and social skills are switched on to their

fullest. You can form some very important social and personal contacts this year. All

you have to do is remain open. Even though the Dragon is usually your opposite, this

particular Dragon is more suited to you. Spend time with those you love and doing

things you love. If you make up your mind to see opportunity in everything – literally

Pig:

Congratulations, perceptive Pig! Your ship has come in! At last the

year comes around that has your native ruling element. Water abounds

You can do whatever you like this year. Whatever you do, though, do it with loved

ones. Take that cruise, decorate the house, buy that new fancy toy you always wanted,

but above all else spend a lot of time talking with people and sharing your stories.

relations, punctilious Pig, and the world shall be your open book. The truth of your
